COMPOSITION :
Each capsule contains :
Meclizine hydrochloride 25 mg.
Pyridoxine hydrochloride (Vitamin B6) 50 mg.
DESCRIPTION :
Vomistop is an antiemetic and antinauseant combination of pyridoxine HCl and Meclizine HCl.
Pyridoxine HCl (vitamin B6), is a naturally occurring, water soluble vitamin.
Meclizine is a piperazine derivative, it is a sedating antihistamine with antimuscarinic properties.
It is mainly used for its antiemetic action which may last for up to 24 hours.
INDICATIONS :
- Pregnancy nausea and vomiting.
- Prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting, associated with variety of conditions including
motion sickness and for the symptomatic treatment of vertigo.
DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION :
- For pregnancy nausea and vomiting : one capsule at bed time.
- For motion sickness : 1 to 2 capsules should be taken one hour before traveling, the dose may
be repeated every 24 hours if needed.
- For vertigo : 1 to 4 capsules daily in divided dosage, depending upon clinical response.
RESTRICTIONS ON USE :
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the product.
- Patients taking levodopa without carbidopa should avoid products contain vitamin B6 more than
5 mg per day.
Precautions
Meclizine should be used with caution in patients with asthma, glaucoma or enlargement of the
prostate gland.
Effect on the capacity to drive vehicles and operate machines
Patients should be cautioned against driving vehicles or use machines as it may cause sedation.
DRUG INTERACTIONS :
- Meclizine as the sedating antihistamines may enhance the sedative effect of CNS depressants
including (alcohol, barbiturates, hypnotics, opoid analgesics and anxiolytic sedatives).
- Pyridoxine may decrease serum levels of levodopa, phenobarbital and phenytoin.
ADVERSE EFFECTS :
Drowsiness, dry mouth and rarly blurred vision.
STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS :
Store below 30°C, in a dry place. Protect from light.
