📌 COMPOSITION
- Each tablet contains: Torsemide 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg.
📌 DESCRIPTION
Torsatop (Torsemide) is a member of a group of medicines called loop diuretics that helps the kidneys to get rid of the extra water which is not needed in your body. Torsatop is used to treat a condition called oedema, which could be due to problems with the heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, blood vessels or high blood pressure.
📌 INDICATIONS
Torsatop is used to treat high blood pressure and oedema.
📌 DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
- High blood pressure: The usual initial dose is 5 mg once daily. If the 5 mg dose does not provide adequate reduction in blood pressure within 4 to 6 weeks, the dose may be increased to 10 mg once daily. If the response to 10 mg is insufficient, an additional antihypertensive agent should be added to the treatment regimen.
- Oedema caused by heart failure: Initially, 10 or 20 mg once a day. Your doctor may increase your dose as needed. The dose is usually not more than 200 mg/day.
- Oedema caused by kidney failure: Initially, 20 mg once a day. Your doctor may increase your dose as needed. The dose is usually not more than 200 mg/day.
- Oedema caused by liver cirrhosis: Initially, 5 or 10 mg once a day. Your doctor may increase your dose as needed. The dose is usually not more than 40 mg/day.
- Children and adolescents: Use and dose must be determined by your doctor.
📌 RESTRICTIONS ON USE
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to torsemide or sulphonamides (sulfa drugs).
- Kidney insufficiency, severe liver disorders, low blood pressure, decreased blood volume, reduced potassium or sodium levels in the blood, severe urinary disorders, gout or irregular heartbeat.
Precautions
Caution should be taken in patients with:
- Low levels of potassium or sodium in the body.
- Prostatic hypertrophy.
- Diabetes.
Effect on the ability to drive vehicles or use machines
Dizziness or drowsiness may occur when taking Torsatop, so caution should be taken when driving or using machines.
Use in Pregnancy & Lactation
If you are pregnant or think you may be pregnant, consult your doctor before taking Torsatop.
Torsatop should not be used during lactation.
📌 DRUG INTERACTIONS
Caution should be taken when co‑administering Torsatop with the following drugs:
- Medicines used to treat high blood pressure, diabetes or constipation.
- ACE inhibitors.
- Digitoxin, digoxin, methyldigoxin.
- Probenecid, acetylsalicylic acid, indomethacin.
- Sulfasalazine, mesalazine, olsalazine.
- Cefixime, cefuroxime, cefaclor, cefalexin, cefadroxil, cefpodoxime proxetil.
- Kanamycin, neomycin, gentamicin, amikacin, tobramycin.
- Cisplatin, lithium, theophylline, muscle‑relaxants, cortisone drugs, cholestyramine, adrenaline, noradrenaline or warfarin.
📌 ADVERSE EFFECTS
Disturbances in the amount of body water and minerals, excessive alkalinity in the body, muscle cramps, increased blood concentrations of uric acid, increased sugar and fats, reduced potassium and sodium levels in the blood, reduced blood volume, stomach and/or bowel disorders, loss of appetite, stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, constipation, increased levels of certain liver enzymes, headache, dizziness, tiredness or weakness.

Store below 30°C in a dry place.
