Eliderma
📌 COMPOSITION
Each 1 g contains: Mometasone furoate 1 mg.
📌 DESCRIPTION
Mometasone furoate, a synthetic corticosteroid, exhibits anti‑inflammatory, antipruritic and vasoconstrictive properties.
📌 INDICATIONS
Eliderma is indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid‑responsive dermatoses, such as psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.
📌 DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION
A thin film of Eliderma should be applied to the affected skin areas once daily.
📌 RESTRICTIONS ON USE
Contraindications
- Rosacea, perioral dermatitis, acne, perianal and genital pruritus, nappy rash and chickenpox.
- Children under 2 years.
- Patients who are sensitive to mometasone furoate or to other corticosteroids.
Precautions
- Avoid contact with eyes or application to the eyelids.
- If used in childhood, courses should be limited to shorter than 3 weeks.
- If irritation or sensitisation develops with the use of Eliderma, treatment should be discontinued and appropriate therapy instituted. In the presence of an infection, use of an appropriate antifungal or antibacterial agent should be instituted. If a favourable response does not occur promptly, the corticosteroid should be discontinued until the infection is controlled adequately.
- Systemic absorption of topical corticosteroids will be increased if extensive body surface areas are treated or if the occlusive technique is used. Suitable precautions should be taken under these conditions or when long‑term use is anticipated, particularly in infants and children.
- Paediatric patients may demonstrate greater susceptibility to topical corticosteroid‑induced hypothalamic‑pituitary‑adrenal axis suppression and Cushing's syndrome than mature patients because of a larger skin surface area to body weight ratio.
- Use of topical corticosteroids in children should be limited to the least amount compatible with an effective therapeutic regimen. Chronic corticosteroid therapy may interfere with growth and development in children.
- Eliderma products are not for ophthalmic use.
- Do not smoke or go near naked flame due to the risk of severe burns.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
If you are pregnant or breast‑feeding, think you may be pregnant or planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
📌 SIDE EFFECTS
Local adverse reactions rarely reported with Eliderma include: burning, pruritus, paraesthesia, tingling, stinging, excessive hair growth, thinning and softening of the skin, and stretch marks.
📌 OVERDOSAGE
Excessive, prolonged use of topical corticosteroids can suppress pituitary‑adrenal function, resulting in secondary adrenal insufficiency.
📌 STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS
- Store below 30°C.
- For external use only.
