COMPOSITION :

Each 5 ml contains :

Triprolidine Hydrochloride USP 1.25 mg.

Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride USP 30 mg.

Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide B.P. 10 mg.

DESCRIPTION :

Triprolidine is a histamine H1 - receptor antagonist.

Pseudoephedrine is a sympathomimetic agent and an effective decongestant.

Dextromethorphan is an antitussive agent.

INDICATIONS :

Bifed-D syrup is indicated for :

Symptomatic relief of upper respiratory tract disorders accompanied by dry cough.

DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION :

Bifed-D syrup is administered three or four times daily as follows :

RESTRICTIONS ON USE :

Contraindications

- Hypersensitivity to any of the components.

- In patients who are taking or have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) for the last two weeks.

- It should not be administered to patients with asthma or when cough is accompanied by excessive

secretions.

- Dextromethorphan, as with other centrally acting antitussive agents, should not be given to patients in, or

at risk of developing respiratory failure.

Precautions

- Avoid concomitant use with alcohol or other centrally acting sedatives.

- Administer with caution to patients with hypertension, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, cardiovascular disease,

elevated intraoccular pressure or prostatic hypertrophy.

Effects on the capacity to drive vehicles or use machines

Administer with caution since it may cause drowsiness.

Use in pregnancy & lactation

Administer under medical supervision.

DRUG INTERACTIONS :

Concomitant use of pseudoephedrine with β-blockers , guanethidine, methyldopa and MAOIs may cause a

rise in blood pressure.

SIDE EFFECTS :

- Mild sedation and drowsiness may occur. Rarely dizziness , blurred vision and skin rashes may occur .

- Side effects due to Dextromethorphan are rare , occasionally nausea , vomiting or gastrointestinal

disturbance may occur.

STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS :

- Store between 15 - 25oC.

- Protect from light.
