📌 COMPOSITION

  • Each 5 ml (teaspoonful) contains: Triprolidine Hydrochloride 1.25 mg – Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride 30.0 mg.
  • Each tablet contains: Triprolidine Hydrochloride 2.5 mg – Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride 60.0 mg.

📌 DESCRIPTION

  • Triprolidine is a histamine H1‑receptor antagonist.
  • Pseudoephedrine is a sympathomimetic agent and an effective decongestant.

📌 INDICATIONS

BIFED is indicated for:

  • Symptomatic relief of upper respiratory tract disorders, including inflammations of the sinuses and Eustachian tubes.
  • Allergic (seasonal) rhinitis, vasomotor (perennial) rhinitis, hay fever, nasal congestion, common cold and aerotitis.

📌 DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION

BIFED is administered three or four times daily as follows:

Adults and children over 12 years10 ml or 1 tablet
Children 6-12 years5 ml or ½ tablet

📌 RESTRICTIONS ON USE

Contraindications
  • Hypersensitivity to any of the components.
  • In patients who are taking or have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) for the last two weeks.
Precautions
  • Avoid concomitant use with alcohol or other centrally acting sedatives.
  • Administer with caution to patients with hypertension, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, elevated intraocular pressure or prostatic hypertrophy.
Effects on the capacity to drive vehicles or use machines

Administer with caution since it may cause drowsiness.

Use in Pregnancy & Lactation

Administer under medical supervision.

📌 DRUG INTERACTIONS

Concomitant use of pseudoephedrine with β‑blockers, guanethidine, methyldopa and MAOIs may cause a rise in blood pressure.

📌 SIDE EFFECTS

Mild sedation and drowsiness may occur. Rarely, dizziness, blurred vision and skin rashes may occur.

📌 STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS

  • Syrup: Store below 30°C, protect from light.
  • Tablets: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protect from light.

📌 PHARMACEUTICAL FORMS

  • BIFED syrup: Bottle of 100 ml.
  • BIFED tablets: Pack of different sizes.
