Ambrox - Syrup and Tab
📌 COMPOSITION
- Each 5 ml (teaspoonful) syrup contains: Ambroxol HCl 15 mg.
- Each tablet contains: Ambroxol HCl 30 mg.
📌 DESCRIPTION
Ambrox (Ambroxol HCl) contains Ambroxol, which is the active metabolite of bromhexine, and it is a systemic mucolytic agent. It acts by altering the structure of mucus to decrease its viscosity. It increases respiratory tract secretion and stimulates ciliary movement; therefore, it facilitates expectoration and reduces cough. This results in considerable improvement in breathing. Absorption of Ambroxol hydrochloride is rapid and complete, and maximum plasma levels are reached within 1-2.5 hours following oral administration. It is primarily metabolised in the liver, and the elimination half‑life is approximately 10 hours.
📌 INDICATIONS
Ambrox is indicated to facilitate the expectoration of mucus associated with acute and chronic respiratory tract disorders in the following cases:
- Chronic bronchitis and bronchial asthma.
- Laryngitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis and rhinitis.
- Common cold infections and productive cough.
- Removal of mucous secretions pre‑ and post‑operation.
- Useful in the treatment of respiratory tract infections when used with some antibiotics.

Precautions
