📌 COMPOSITION

Each tablet contains: Drotaverine hydrochloride 40 mg, 80 mg.

📌 DESCRIPTION

SpasmDro (Drotaverine hydrochloride) is an antispasmodic drug that acts directly on smooth muscle cells by inhibiting the phosphodiesterase enzyme, which leads to an increase in cAMP levels, and also inhibits internal calcium uptake of the cell, resulting in smooth muscle cell relaxation. SpasmDro is characterised by a rapid onset of action, which is very advantageous in cases of acute painful spastic conditions. Unlike other antispasmodic drugs, SpasmDro does not affect the autonomic nervous system, so it minimises side effects and can be used by patients with glaucoma and prostatic hypertrophy.

📌 INDICATIONS

• Biliary tract spasms due to (gallstones, inflammation of the gallbladder or biliary tract).
• Urinary tract spasms due to (stones in the kidney or ureter, inflammation of the renal pelvis, inflammation or spasm of the bladder).
• Uterine spasms due to painful menstruation and uterine tetanus.

SpasmDro is used as an additional treatment in the following cases:

• Gastric and intestinal colic or spasms caused by (ulceration of the stomach and duodenum, inflammation of the inner lining of the stomach, spasm of the closing muscle of the upper and lower opening of the stomach, intestinal and colon inflammation, irritable bowel syndrome with spastic constipation or intestinal distension).
• In some cases of headache (“tension headache”).

📌 DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION

* It is considered the maximum dose and SpasmDro should only be used in this age group when absolutely necessary.

📌 RESTRICTIONS ON USE

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to drotaverine hydrochloride.
• Patients with severe hepatic, renal or cardiac failure.
• Children younger than 6 years.

Precautions

• Should be used with caution by patients with low blood pressure.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

Can be used if the benefits outweigh the risks and under medical supervision.

📌 DRUG INTERACTIONS

Caution should be taken in case of concomitant administration of SpasmDro with Parkinson's disease drugs (levodopa).

📌 SIDE EFFECTS

SpasmDro may cause headache, vertigo, nausea, constipation or a feeling of palpitation in some patients.
