📌 DESCRIPTION
Ramol (Paracetamol) is a non-opiate, non-salicylate analgesic and antipyretic, so it does not cause GIT irritation. It relieves pain by elevating the pain threshold centrally by blocking pain-impulse generation through a peripheral action, and it reduces fever by its effect on the hypothalamic heat-regulating center, resulting in peripheral vasodilation, increasing blood flow through the skin, sweating and heat loss. The effect of Paracetamol is mainly due to the inhibition of prostaglandin biosynthesis. Ramol is rapidly absorbed orally; the initial rapid response occurs in less than half an hour and within 2 hours peak levels are achieved. It is metabolized in the liver and excreted via the bile and kidneys.
📌 INDICATIONS
- Children and infants: To relieve fever due to teething, tonsillitis, measles, common cold, and fever after vaccination or immunization.
- Adults: Mild to moderate pain such as headache, back pain, febrile conditions, and relieves discomfort that accompanies cold, flu, and sore throat.
- Ramol is considered the drug of choice for relieving pain and reducing fever in patients with peptic ulcer, asthma, the elderly, and children for whom NSAIDs or salicylates are contraindicated.
