📌 COMPOSITION
Each 5 ml contains: Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide B.P. 15 mg.
📌 DESCRIPTION
Dextro-M is a cough suppressant which has a central action on the cough centre in the medulla. Dextro-M is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract; it acts within half an hour of oral administration and exerts an effect for up to 6 hours.
📌 INDICATIONS
Dextro-M is used as an antitussive to suppress irritating or non‑productive cough.
📌 DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION
Dextro-M is administered three or four times daily as follows:
Dextro-M is administered under medical supervision for children under the age of 2 years.
📌 RESTRICTIONS ON USE
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Dextromethorphan.
- Dextromethorphan, as with other centrally acting antitussive agents, should not be given to patients with or at risk of developing respiratory failure.
- In patients who are taking or have taken monoamine oxidase inhibitors for the last two weeks.
Precautions
Avoid concomitant use with alcohol or other centrally acting sedatives.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
Administer under medical supervision.
📌 SIDE EFFECTS
Side effects due to Dextromethorphan are rare; occasionally, dizziness and gastrointestinal disturbances may occur.
📌 STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS
- Store below 30°C.
- Protect from light.
