📌 COMPOSITION

Each tablet contains: Loratadine USP 10 mg.

Each 5 ml (teaspoonful) syrup contains: Loratadine USP 5 mg.

📌 DESCRIPTION

Clarin contains loratadine, a potent long-acting tricyclic antihistamine with selective peripheral H1-receptor antagonistic nonsedative activity. It also blocks histamine-induced bronchoconstriction and hence is used as an antiasthmatic. Clarin is well and rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract after oral administration. An antihistaminic effect begins within 1-3 hours, reaching a maximum at 8-12 hours and the duration of action is at least 24 hours.

📌 INDICATIONS

Clarin is indicated for:

• Relief of symptoms associated with allergic rhinitis such as sneezing, nasal discharge and itching as well as ocular itching and burning.
• Relief of symptoms and signs of chronic urticaria and other allergic dermatologic disorders.
• Treatment adjunct in asthma.
• Treatment adjunct for anaphylactic and anaphylactoid reactions.

📌 DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION

• Adults and children 12 years of age and over: 10 mg (one tablet) of Clarin tablet or 10 ml (two teaspoonful) of Clarin syrup once daily.
• Children 2 to 12 years of age:
  • For body weight > 30 kg: 10 mg (two teaspoonful) Clarin syrup once daily.
  • For body weight ≤ 30 kg: 5 mg (one teaspoonful) Clarin syrup once daily.

📌 RESTRICTIONS ON USE

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity or idiosyncrasy to the product.

Precautions

• The initial dose should be decreased in patients with severe liver impairment as clearance of Loratadine may be reduced; an initial dose of 5 mg once daily or 10 mg every other day is recommended.
• Safety and efficacy of Loratadine in children younger than two years of age have not yet been established.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation

• Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed since its safety has not been established.
• Not recommended during lactation.

📌 SIDE EFFECTS

Mild and rare and comparable to placebo such as fatigue, sedation, headache and nervousness.

📌 STORAGE INSTRUCTIONS

• Tablets: Store between 2-30°C in a dry place.
• Syrup: Store between 2-30°C.

• Clarin Tablets: Pack of 10 tablets and hospital packs of different sizes.
• Clarin Syrup: Bottle of 100 ml.
