📌 COMPOSITION
(Betamethasone + Neomycin sulphate)
Each 1 g contains:
Betamethasone 1 mg (as betamethasone valerate).
Neomycin sulphate 5 mg.
📌 DESCRIPTION
Betamethasone valerate is an active topical corticosteroid which produces a rapid response in those inflammatory dermatoses that are responsive to topical corticosteroid therapy.
Neomycin sulphate is a broad‑spectrum bactericidal antibiotic effective against bacteria associated with skin infections.
📌 INDICATIONS
Betatop‑N is indicated for the treatment of the following conditions: Eczema, including infantile eczema, atopic dermatitis, contact dermatitis, seborrhoeic dermatitis, neurodermatitis. Betatop‑N can be used for insect bites and sunburn.
📌 DOSAGE & ADMINISTRATION
Apply a small quantity to the affected area two or three times daily until improvement occurs; then it can be used once daily until complete improvement. In children, courses should be limited to five days if possible, and occlusion should not be used.
📌 RESTRICTIONS ON USE
Contraindications
- In children under one year of age.
- Rosacea, acne vulgaris, perioral dermatitis, viral infections (e.g., herpes simplex, chickenpox).
- Hypersensitivity to the preparation.
- Should not be used on fungal (candidal) or bacterial skin infections.
- Avoid use on the face; may cause skin atrophy.
- In cases of otitis media.
Precautions
Use of more than 100 g/week is likely to cause adrenal suppression.
Use in Pregnancy and Lactation
Topical steroids should not be used extensively in pregnancy and lactation.
📌 SIDE EFFECTS
- Long‑term use may cause local atrophic changes in the skin (thinning, striae and dilatation of superficial blood vessels).
- As with other topical corticosteroids, prolonged use of large amounts can result in sufficient systemic absorption to produce features of hypercorticism.
- There are reports of pigmentation changes.
- If hypersensitivity appears, application should stop immediately.
📌 OVERDOSAGE
Acute overdosage is very unlikely to occur; however, in the case of chronic overdosage or misuse, features of hypercorticism may appear. In this situation, topical steroids should be discontinued.

- Store below 30°C.
- Keep out of reach of children.
